The flashcard app that remembers for you
Write a card once. Flashside decides when you see it again, so you spend the time on what you have not learned yet. Free on iPhone, Android and right here in the browser.

What you get
A flashcard maker that does the scheduling part
Reviews that schedule themselves
Grade a card again, hard, good or easy. The scheduler decides when you see it next, so nothing is reviewed on the day you already knew it.
Cards that hold more than words
Images and audio on either side, rich text, captions and per-card colours. A vocabulary card and a diagram card are the same card type.
Works with no connection
Collections live on the device. You need the network to sync or to download somebody else’s deck, never to study your own.
Share a deck with a link
Every collection can become a public link and a QR code. Open it on a phone with the app installed and the deck imports itself.
Podcast mode keeps copies fresh
Publish a collection once and every subscriber’s copy updates as you edit it. Useful for a class, a course or a study group.
Bring what you already have
Import a spreadsheet in the web editor or an Anki deck in the app. Note types and media survive the trip.
How it works
Three steps, then a habit
01
Write or import the cards
Type them in the editor, paste a spreadsheet, or download a deck somebody already shared.
02
Study what is due
The queue only holds cards the scheduler thinks you are about to forget. When it is empty, you are done for the day.
03
Grade honestly
Again, hard, good, easy. That single tap is what moves the next review closer or further away.
Who uses it
Language learners
Vocabulary, kanji, conjugations, with audio on the answer side.
Medical and law students
Thousands of cards a term, scheduled so the load stays flat.
Teachers
Publish one deck and keep every student’s copy in sync.
Anyone with an exam
Type the cards once, then answer four buttons a day.
Questions
Before you download
Is Flashside really free?+
Yes. Everything Flashside does today, from writing and studying cards to syncing, sharing and importing, is free on iOS, Android and the web, with no advertising. Learning stays free. If we add optional extras one day, they will be clearly marked as paid, and your cards always belong to you.
What is spaced repetition?+
Reviewing a card just before you would have forgotten it. Flashside asks how hard each card was and uses that to pick the next review date, so easy cards come back rarely and hard cards come back soon.
Does Flashside work offline?+
Yes. Collections are stored on the device. A connection is needed only to sync between devices or to download a shared collection.
Can I put images and audio on a flashcard?+
Yes. Either side of a card can be an image with a caption, and cards can carry audio. The web editor handles text and images; the mobile app adds audio and drawing.
Can I import flashcards I already made?+
The web editor imports Excel files, mapping the first column to the question and the second to the answer. The mobile app imports Anki decks, keeping note types and media.
Do I need an account to use Flashside?+
No. You can create and study collections without one. An account is what lets the same collections follow you to another device.
